I feel like I have been living in a yellow cloud this week. I traveled to Augusta, GA this past weekend to visit the family and celebrate Easter and the pollen count there had to be astronomical. My significant other, let’s call him My J for anonymity, was completely miserable the entire time. Suffering from allergies and being extremely sensitive to the yellow stuff, I commend him on being a trooper as he even tolerated spending extra time outside to play badminton and jump on my niece’s new trampoline. Needless to say, when we completed those activities, we had a nice layer of pollen covering us. 

However, Augusta, yes the “Home of the Masters Golf Tournament” which is in progress as I write, is really beautiful this time of year. The azaleas are in bloom and everything there seems to be made extra shiny for the influx of out-of-town guests who visit each year to attend the tournament. While visiting, I did a little shopping with my mom and sister and My J (who equates shopping to nothing less than extreme torture) hung out in a bookstore. Of course, when I picked him up from there, I had to do a little browsing myself. And, I know that it seems to be a post theme as of late, but I can’t help but write about another magazine discovery. As I was browsing the newsstand, I came across Boho Magazine. Printed completely on recycled paper, I was very excited to find this magazine as it appeals to my inner earth-conscious hippie self. To further my excitement, the issue focused on Paris and you know my love for all things French. I practically ran to the counter to buy it. The magazine describes a boho girl as “Free. Radical. Independent. Her style is her own.” Within the issue, I was impressed to see multiple ads supporting non-profit organizations. There is also a feature article called “World Changing Chicks” which in this issue featured Alexandra Cousteau who works to raise awareness about water conservation across the globe. The magazine seems to have an ecoconscious, focusing on green fashion and living. I got a subscription and look forward to seeing if future issues stick to this approach and focus on inspiring and creative individuals who recognize the impact you can have socially and environmentally through fashion, art and lifestyle.

This weekend, I plan to embrace the pollen and get outside to dig in the dirt and plant flowers. Also, am really excited about the aqua adirondack chairs I recently purchased for my patio. Looking forward to warm spring evenings and sunny afternoons relaxing in my chairs and spending time with My J and friends.
